Research Description

Dr. da Silva’s research interests are centered around the fundamentals of bluff body flows, inspired by applications in wind engineering and energy systems. Her research makes complementary use of computational techniques such as large-eddy simulation, and experimental methods with intrusive and non-intrusive techniques to study the fundamentals of the flow around wall-mounted prisms, the systematic effects of incoming flow conditions, and wake interactions.

Research Interests
  • Bluff body aerodynamics
  • Large eddy simulation
  • Turbulence
  • Fluid-structure interaction
  • Flow control
  • Experimental fluid mechanics
  • Computational fluid dynamics
